JOE FRAZIER CANCER: Smokin joe frazier has dead after a brief battle with liver cancer, his family said. Joseph William "Joe" Frazier (January 12, 1944 – November 7, 2011), also known as Smokin' Joe, was an Olympic and Undisputed World Heavyweight boxing champion, whose professional career lasted from 1965 to 1976, with a one-fight comeback in 1981.

Smokin Joe Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011. Within a few weeks, the cancer had metastasized. By November 2011, he was under hospital care, where he died on November 7. Upon hearing of Frazier's death, Muhammad Ali said, "The world has lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration. When news first broke of Frazier's cancer battle, Muhammad Ali, 69, sent public prayers and well-wishes, saying, "The news about Joe is hard to believe and even harder to accept."
Manny Pacquiao learned of it shortly after he arrived in Las Vegas for his fight Saturday night with Juan Manuel Marquez. Like Frazier in his prime, Pacquiao has a powerful left hook that he has used in his remarkable run to stardom.
Smokin Joe Frazier was born to Rubin and Dolly Frazier in Laurel Bay, Beaufort, South Carolina. The legendary fighter will be best remembered for being the first man to beat Muhammad Ali in New York in 1971. The night at the Garden 40 years ago remained fresh in Frazier’s mind as he talked about his life, career and relationship with Muhammad Ali a few months before he dead.
