Elisabeth Sladen Cancer
Elisabeth Sladen dies after battle with Cancer aged 63. Elisabeth Sladen appeared as Doctor Who assistant Sarah Jane Smith in the BBC television sci-fi series between 1973 and 1976, opposite Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker. The actress was a regular on BBC’s Doctor Who with both Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, and has reprised her role many times.
She returned as the character for a spin-off series K9 and Company in 1981 and Davies, 47, brought Elisabeth Sladen back into the Doctor Who fold in 2006 when she starred in an episode alongside the then Doctor, David Tennant. The Liverpool-born actress appeared in four series from 2007 of The Sarah Jane Adventures on children's channel CBBC. Elisabeth Sladen had been battling cancer for some time and leaves actor husband Brian Miller and daughter Sadie. She can't be dead. But she is, she died yesterday morning. Cancer. I had no idea she was ill; she was so private, never wanted any fuss, and now, gone. A terrible blow to her friends and a shattering blow for all those fans of the programme whose lives were touched every Saturday evening by her lovely heroic character, Sarah-Jane Smith. Elisabeth Sladen began her career as an assistant stage manager at the Liverpool playhouse. Her first role on stage was playing a corpse, and she made her screen debut in the 1965 film Ferry Cross the Mersey as an extra. Source from www.bbc.co.uk and www.dailymail.co.uk
