Yuvraj Singh Cancer
Yuvraj Singh Lung cancer: Yuvraj Singh was signed by Microsoft to be a brand ambassador for the Xbox 360 video game console when it was launched in India in 2006. Yuvraj Singh that one or two in every thousand persons afflicted by tumour in the lungs. But this Team India cricketer's physical fitness and the fact that he's not a smoker ensured the tumour is benign or non-cancerous.

Just a few weeks after winning the World Cup, its man of the tournament - Yuvraj Singh - was diagnosed with 'lung cancer'. Oncologists say if it's detected early, the tumours turn out to be non-life threatening in about 60% of cases.
"At his (Yuvraj's age) or someone less than 40 years, it's highly possible to have a lung tumour. But it will be non-cancerous if the person is not addicted to tobacco products and is a non-smoker. A lung tumour can be cancerous only if the person is a tobacco addict," said Dr Neelesh Reddy, consultant oncologist, Columbia-Asia Hospital.
"He was coughing and vomiting all through the tournament. But we thought it was just the stress, and his desire to excel on the biggest stage... so we ignored it," his mother Shabnam Singh told TOI in an exclusive chat. "Sometimes, pneumonia or tuberculosis or even a bad cough can lead to such non-cancerous tumours. In very rare cases, if a food particle has some fungus or is infectious, it can grow inside the lung tissue and can surface as a benign tumor," said Dr Jagannath Dixit, consultant, surgical oncologist, HCG Cancer Hospital.
Yuvraj Singh, a known fighter, was indignant though. "I didn't believe the reports," he said. "I felt fine, and deep inside, I felt good too," he said, almost embarrassed to go into the painful details.Patients diagnosed with benign tumour have an option to remove it surgically or it can be cured with medication. "Surgery is suggested only if the tumour is growing and if it gets infectious and causes complications in the system. Most often such a tumour doesn't cause too many problems and is cured with medication," said Dr Tiyas Sen, consultant oncologist, Shaw Majumdar Cancer Hospital. JOE FRAZIER CANCER: Smokin joe frazier has dead after a brief battle with liver cancer, his family said. Joseph William "Joe" Frazier (January 12, 1944 – November 7, 2011), also known as Smokin' Joe, was an Olympic and Undisputed World Heavyweight boxing champion, whose professional career lasted from 1965 to 1976, with a one-fight comeback in 1981.

Smokin Joe Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011. Within a few weeks, the cancer had metastasized. By November 2011, he was under hospital care, where he died on November 7. Upon hearing of Frazier's death, Muhammad Ali said, "The world has lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration. When news first broke of Frazier's cancer battle, Muhammad Ali, 69, sent public prayers and well-wishes, saying, "The news about Joe is hard to believe and even harder to accept."
Manny Pacquiao learned of it shortly after he arrived in Las Vegas for his fight Saturday night with Juan Manuel Marquez. Like Frazier in his prime, Pacquiao has a powerful left hook that he has used in his remarkable run to stardom.
Smokin Joe Frazier was born to Rubin and Dolly Frazier in Laurel Bay, Beaufort, South Carolina. The legendary fighter will be best remembered for being the first man to beat Muhammad Ali in New York in 1971. The night at the Garden 40 years ago remained fresh in Frazier’s mind as he talked about his life, career and relationship with Muhammad Ali a few months before he dead. Former world heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011 and admitted to hospice care. He dead November 7, 2011. BARBRA STREISAND CANCER: She is one of the most commercially and critically successful entertainers in modern entertainment history, with more than 71.5 million albums shipped in the United States and 140 million albums sold worldwide. America was been rocked yesterday by tabloid revelations that Barbra Streisand had undergone a secret cancer operation to remove part of her colon.

Barbara Joan Streisand (see name change) was born on April 24, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, to a Jewish family, the daughter of Emmanuel and Diana (née Rosen) Streisand. She is the second of two children fathered by Emmanuel (the elder child is Sheldon), who was a respected high school teacher. Last night, Barbra Streisand set the record straight with a Truth Alert in response to the cover story in the latest issue of the National Enquirer, the one with the incendiary headline "Streisand Cancer Bombshell" accompanied by a retched photo of her that appears to be altered for the worst. Singing legend Barbra Streisand has confirmed reports she underwent surgery earlier this month to remove a polyp in her colon. On Wednesday American tabloid The National Enquirer reported the 62-year-old singer and actress had the operation in Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai Hospital.
On 28 January 2011, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Paramount Pictures has given the road-trip comedy, My Mother's Curse, the green light to begin shooting, with Streisand and Seth Rogen playing mother and son. Anne Fletcher is slated to direct the project with a script by Dan Fogelman. Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn will produce it with Evan Goldberg. Executive producers include Streisand, Rogen, Fogelman, and David Ellison, whose Skydance will co-finance the pic. Shooting began in spring of 2011 and wrapped in July. In August the Internet Movie Database began listing the film with the new title Guilt Trip. The film is set for a November 2012 release (originally it was slated to release in March 2012).
On February 1, 2010, Streisand joined over 80 other artists in recording a new version of the 1985 charity single "We Are the World". Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie planned to release the new version to mark the 25th anniversary of its original recording. These plans changed, however, in view of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010, and on February 12, the song, now called "We Are the World 25 for Haiti", made its debut as a charity single to support relief aid for the beleaguered island nation. Streisand was honored as MusiCares Person of the Year on February 11, 2011, two days prior to the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards.
